Designed to love

Spread the love

Listen to the voice of heaven high above;
Perhaps it’s what we had always dreamed of.
Our soul thus designed to savor, worship, love.

Every hour and then we’re thus reminded of;
The world at present in dire need of love.
Listen to the voice of heaven high above.

Our well bred manners are just not enough;
Know what it’s to sigh and still not been heard.
Our soul thus designed to savor, worship, love.

The hours are long and times are tough;
The things we see but just can not touch.
Listen to the voice of heaven high above.

Like streams of gold in the skies far above;
Know when the journey has resumed or begun.
Our soul thus designed to savor, worship, love.

How blessed this land which is counted among;
Where passion and precision have become one.
Listen to the voice of heaven high above;
Our soul thus designed to savor, worship, love.

    We are indeed designed to love and respect one another – you picture alongside your poem illustrate that beautifully…how easily that can become tainted and distorted and yet we must hope for its return maybe?

  2. Sumana Roy says:

    “Our soul thus designed to savor, worship, love.”…if only the humans were evolved enough to understand and embrace this…so well thought of words and rhyme in this perfect villanelle Sanaa….

  3. L. Moon says:

    Indeed we are designed for this journey toward a higher calling. What a beautiful Villanelle Sunny. It’s one of my favorite forms as it has a gentle echo.
    Hope the day is full of beauty for you!

  4. Jamztoma says:

    Hey Sanaa,

    Commend you for this line:

    Our well bred manners are just not enough;

    True to a point. My politeness and humility sometimes are frowned upon. But I won’t change just because someone wants me to. Great poem! Loved it!

  5. Susan says:

    We are indeed! We are stuck in immature stages–stuck in mental space perhaps, logic being the United States model. And not yet as wise as a child. I love our poem. I think it is what I was trying to say in mine.

  6. Old Egg says:

    Sadly a world full of love doesn’t make enough money for those that make and sell things we definitely don’t need like guns and bombs and disposable stuff and where generating hate is so profitable. Perhaps one day…if there are enough poets like you to help generate change Sanaa.

  7. Rall says:

    Well bred manners may not be enough but they are a good are a good start..Rarely seen. The world is brutal …dog eat dog and survival of the fittest is the common currency.
