Courage

Spread the love

I refuse to be soft like oatmeal porridge;
Wrapped up in some cold dark storage.
Cause those who strive for distant goals;
Need courage within their flesh and souls.
Though courage it isn’t designed for show;
Borrowed this passion stands true in woe.
It isn’t something that comes and goes.
Breath of strong men’s life and creed;
Follow the path where courage shall lead.

Though courage a slow, unwavering trait
It comes to those with strength to wait.
These skies so dark they hide the blue;
Yet fleeting corners we shall pursue.
Our future is what we shall conceive;
Follow the path where courage shall lead.

    Courage as you demonstrate is an inbred trait that seems to make up our minds for us to be fair, and just in seeking the true and honorable way. Beautifully written Sanaa.

    Sigh. Am sorry, I don’t have the words to fully describe, how your poem has moved me, Sanaa. Maybe, this, in itself, speaks for the elegance of your words expressed, here.

  7. Susan says:

    I love that first line! Maybe it’s in opposition to it that I often find my courage in the warmth of oatmeal in my stomach! I always eat the food, rather than let it eat me. We do need courage to build a good future.

    Sanaa,

    Courage is an absolute must for life these days. Even to leave a cosy corner and step outside into a world filled with dangers and foreboding, quite often. Courage can push us onwards to at least make an effort..

    Completely agree on this idea..

    I think courage is so much needed… but sometimes we need to bend like a willow wand lean to the wind… only to snap back again… wonderful way to treat the subject.
