Ah – we both presented different sides of red. I do think it is true that color is synced with mind and soul….color comes from our depths, says something about a person.
Oh – wonderful piece – I forget the term but your use of { } – is very effective…and absolutely colour is synched with mind and soul….may it be bright…
Oh Sanaa, I really feel like singing it…’color me Red’ indeed…of course ‘Color is synced with mind and soul’….bracketed words are simply brilliant…I also played with ‘red’ today….
Brilliant! Heart or Head? Color has always had symbolic power. I remember in the movie Gone With the Wind when all the widows dress in black but Scarlet defiantly put on red–of course that was her name–but she was saying Let There Be Life. At that point she still had innocence, not cynicism, but she didn’t really know herself. I want to be able to defy untimely death. “Color me red.”
Really like how you play with these words. Red stands out and often doesn’t play well with others. When it does, it brings a sense of exuberance that touches everything around it.
Red is a passionate color so a lady in red or to color up in embarrassment is usually associate with feelings of love and desire, one flaunted the other badly hidden. It was fun to see the two words offered with the initial letter bracketed off. It is good to read experimental poetry like this to play with the reader.
Luv your form with its “stumble ” words, I call them that, hope its okay. Cause I’m reading through and I have to halt not pause, whether I want to or not.
Christmas say red for me so its a nice seasonal mood
Sanaa, I really enjoyed this piece of yours. It adds to my current pursuit of trying to appreciate the color red. You made me see the beauty of red which can be an intense color at times. Excellent!
This is the third poem I’ve read on red in just a few minutes…inviting me to view it from new angles, with new insights. I love color in art and in poetry–you brought it home.
Red is my favorite color as well, so color me red too. Your use of form & line breaks, spacing, & bracketed words give it even more dimensions; color is married to emotion, the light spectrum becomes a universal link for all of us. When I see bracketed words, it is always fascinating. I keep looking at the words within the brackets, hoping to find another line, another message reading just them; but no such luck.
Interesting how different people react differently to the same colour, Sanaa. The parenthetical device defeated me on the first read, I’ll have to go back and re-read it now…
