Blast from the Past

Spread the love

FotorCreated

Rooms where knowledge so often chased
We sing and dance we blessed this space
While dressed in satin or linen with lace
Our fears unspoken with faith replaced

We swore to learn with heart and grace
And struggle to list and strive to trace
In trees and plants all flowery race
Our cheerful tones and serious face

Rooms where past and future apace
Where world is bent upon your case
We closed our eyes to mere retrace
Revive our thoughts in books encased

We yearn to feel its warm embrace
Like embers glow through fireplace
Each time we feel we’re out of place
We gather around like flowers in vase

I enjoyed seeing these photos of what must have been your school and school friends, Sanaa. Indeed so much knowledge is ‘chased’ in these rooms; and past does meet future in the presence of now!

How nice to read your poem written from the student’s perspective! “Our fears unspoken with faith replaced” – what a wonderful thing when this happens. I enjoyed the enthusiasm and youth I felt in your words.

I appreciate the photos Sanaa ~ How lovely to revisit and recall the places where learning and friendship had taken place ~ I specially admire this part:

Each time we feel we’re out of place
We gather around like flowers in vase

the youth of the classroom…..when we had but to learn and live. That magical time of being an adult but not….
the classroom sees such joy, such commitment. Flowers sipping water to nourish their souls.
Lovely write — and enjoyed the photos too. Thanks for sharing those….I’m assuming they are personal?

The way you use your rhymes, the same rhymes, over and throughout your pieces- is so graceful and flowing. Like a delicate lace.
Very few poets can achieve this venerable style which you do so well.
