The bloodstained heart,
the hollow soul and mute stare
of seclusion long to find out
what’s behind the curtain.
I caress the edge of light and dark
taking a few minutes to read the stars,
believe distance can’t stop what’s
meant to be and when unraveled the
universe mere thoughts become things.
Like wind driven clouds, my mind’s eye
leapt forward, eager to embrace life’s
trials and tribulations, sliding along the
highway of dreams. And though curtain
lowered and curtain rose, I found myself
readying for what stood between.

Luv this image:

Happy Thursday to you Sanaa

Thank you so much, Gillena 😀 so good to see you ❤️
much love…
This is a favorite of mine… how well you used the metaphor of that curtain, both as separation and bridge. Well done
Thank you so much, Bjorn 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
For me, it is always what is in-between. perhaps, just a slice of life, but what else is really real?
Definitely 🙂 thanks for stopping by, Annell ❤️
Really like the thoughtfulness you put into this, Sanaa. I agree with Bjorn.
Thank you so much, Victoria 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
These lines are gold:
“I caress the edge of light and dark
taking a few minutes to read the stars,”
Visual writing and the imagery just speaks in volumes.
Thank you so much, Charlie 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I sense a veil falling, but a slow fall by which you’re savoring the beauty of the silken sheen of illusions one final time. It’s a beautiful transformation. And this is my favorite part:
“…when unraveled the
universe mere thoughts become things.”
Thank you so much, Amaya 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
”…sliding along the highway of dreams…” these words resonate with me.
Thank you so much, Lillian 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
The light and dark, and that curtain, just add to the mysterious tone of this beautiful poem.
Thank you so much, Misky 🙂 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
…my mind’s eye
leapt forward, eager to embrace life’s
trials and tribulations…..I like this phrase (no matter what’s beyond the curtain)
Thank you so much, Vivian 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
I felt compelled to read this several times. I loved the inevitability of it sll.
I caress the edge of light and dark
taking a few minutes to read the stars,
believe distance can’t stop what’s
meant to be .
Wonderful words. XXX
Thank you so much, Alison 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
The imagery has a Shakespearean quality to it. Well done!
Thank you so much, Jane 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
I liked this description: “sliding along the
highway of dreams. “
Thank you so much, Frank 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
Dear Sanaa, I always enjoy anticipating the essential romanticism in your work – just up my street… And once again you certainly don’t disappoint here… And this is exactly where many a yearning soul find themselves – readying themselves for what’s stood between… Terrific!
Thank you so much, Scott 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
I too love the metaphor of the curtain specially with the ending, readying for whatever comes next.
Thank you so much, Grace 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I found myself
readying for what stood between
A lot more happens in between that makes life more interesting!
Nothing sad about the curtain call then. Very true Sanaa!

Definitely 🙂 thanks for stopping by, Hank ❤️
A picture painted with words. Well drawn.
Thank you so much, Roslyn 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
The picture told a story itself and with your words I felt empowerment was being born from abuse. Mind you I read the strangest things in others words Sanaa so laugh, cry or scream as appropriate.
Thank you so much, Robin 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
I like how you shifted the mood of your poem, from doom and despair to rationalizing what might be and ending with a dash of “sunny” (hope): “Like wind driven clouds, my mind’s eye leapt forward, eager to embrace life’s trials and tribulations, sliding along the highway of dreams. …” Nice write, nice and fun prompt, Sanaa.
..
Thank you so much, Jim 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
Stunning imagery and flow to this poem – I loved it!
Thank you so much, Jae 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
love the play of words here, “I caress the edge of light and dark” is a gorgeous line
Thank you so much, Mary 😀 so good to see you ❤️
This has all the qualities I always love in your poetry, as well as a thoughtfulness and a progression (or, as Jim says, a shifting of mood) which I particularly like.
Aww gosh!❤️ Thank you so much, Rosemary 😀 so glad you enjoyed it!❤️
“believe distance can’t stop what’s
meant to be and when unraveled the
universe mere thoughts become things.” Love this
Thank you so much, Debi 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
Barriers can be both beginnings and endings, and in your poem they are both. I like that. I like thinking that fate and what the speaker decides to do with hers is not set on stone.
Thank you so much, Magaly 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I like the way each stanza increases in length as you develop your motif. The final image is most memorable: both the rising and falling of the curtain and life goes on in between.
Thank you so much, Kerry 😀 so good to see you ❤️
What wonderful closing lines!
Thank you so much, Sherry 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
killer last line! The artwork is so cool and that reference as to what’s between light and dark. Well done.
Thank you so much, Margaret 😀 so good to see you ❤️
distance can’t stop what’s meant to be and when unraveled the universe mere thoughts become things…gorgeous line
Thank you so much, Toni 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
Oh, we have to throw open those curtains and live between acts.. Lovely writing!
Thank you so much, Susie 😀 so good to see you ❤️
Those layers of curtains can drive us to do so much. Great poem!
